Shipping & Return Policy

Last updated: September, 2026

This Shipping Policy explains how Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop handles parcel orders, custom-built transmissions, clutches, customer-owned components, freight shipments, core returns, and cross-border deliveries.

This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. A written quote or order confirmation may include additional shipping terms for a particular transaction.

Contact Us Before Shipping a Component

Do not ship a transmission, clutch, core, housing, gear set, or other customer-owned component until Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop has confirmed the shipment.

We may provide a quote number, job number, return authorization, shipping address, carrier instructions, or other information that must accompany the shipment.

Unscheduled shipments may be refused, delayed, or subject to additional handling or storage charges when permitted by law.

Before shipping, confirm:

  • The component being shipped.
  • The purpose of the shipment.
  • The shipper and recipient.
  • The pickup and delivery addresses.
  • The declared value.
  • The carrier and service level.
  • Insurance coverage.
  • Packaging requirements.
  • Dimensions and weight.
  • Delivery access.
  • Cross-border documentation.

Small Parcel Orders

Oils, parts, apparel, and other smaller products may be shipped using the parcel carrier and service displayed during checkout or identified in the order confirmation.

Available shipping methods and charges depend on:

  • Destination.
  • Package dimensions.
  • Package weight.
  • Product availability.
  • Carrier availability.
  • Hazardous-material restrictions.
  • Air-shipping restrictions.
  • International-shipping restrictions.

Some oils, fluids, chemicals, or regulated products may not be eligible for air or international shipment.

Freight Shipments

Transmissions, large clutches, cores, and other heavy components normally require freight service.

Freight charges may be quoted separately from the product or build price.

A freight quote may change if the actual weight, dimensions, location, or required services differ from the information originally provided.

Tell us before shipment if the location:

  • Is residential.
  • Has limited access.
  • Requires a delivery appointment.
  • Does not have a loading dock.
  • Does not have a forklift.
  • Requires a liftgate.
  • Requires inside delivery.
  • Requires terminal pickup.
  • Has restricted delivery hours.

Charges for liftgate service, residential delivery, limited access, address correction, redelivery, storage, or other special services may be added when permitted by law.

Packaging Inbound Components

Customers are responsible for properly preparing and packaging components sent to Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop unless another arrangement is confirmed in writing.

Drain Fluids

Drain oil, fuel, coolant, and other fluids as required by carrier rules and applicable law.

Cap or plug openings and prevent residual fluid from leaking.

A carrier may refuse a leaking, contaminated, or improperly labeled shipment.

Clean and Protect the Component

Remove loose dirt and residue.

Protect input and output shafts, fittings, sensors, controls, and other parts that may be damaged during handling.

Secure or remove unsupported accessories that could bend, break, or move during transportation.

Use an Appropriate Pallet or Crate

Use a pallet, skid, crate, or container rated for the component’s weight.

Bolt or band the component securely to the base. Block movement in every direction and protect the component from direct contact with the outer packaging.

Stretch wrap or a lightweight cardboard box is not sufficient as the primary restraint for a heavy transmission or clutch.

Protect Against Weather and Corrosion

Use appropriate moisture, corrosion, and weather protection for the shipping route and expected storage conditions.

Include Identification

Place the following information on the outside of the shipment and on a document inside the packaging:

  • Customer name.
  • Company name, if applicable.
  • Telephone number.
  • Email address.
  • Return address.
  • Quote or authorization number.
  • Description of the component.
  • Reason for shipment.

Take Photographs

Photograph the component before packaging and photograph all sides of the completed packaging before the carrier accepts it.

Keep the bill of lading, shipping receipt, dimensions, weight, declared value, and tracking information.

Responsibility for Inbound Shipments

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, the customer is responsible for a customer-owned component until Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop receives and accepts it.

We recommend using a trackable service and purchasing insurance based on the component’s replacement or agreed value.

Carrier liability may be less than the actual value and may exclude damage caused by inadequate packaging.

Processing and Build Times

Processing time for an in-stock product is different from the time required to inspect, rebuild, machine, or configure a custom component.

Build time begins after we receive all required:

  • Information.
  • Measurements.
  • Components.
  • Authorizations.
  • Deposits or payments.
  • Customer decisions.

Inspection findings, parts availability, machining, supplier delays, customer approvals, and workload may change the estimated schedule.

Shipping and Delivery Estimates

Shipping estimates include carrier transit time after the order is ready to leave our facility.

A shipping or delivery estimate is not a guaranteed arrival date unless we expressly confirm a guaranteed service in writing.

Weather, road closures, carrier problems, labor disruptions, customs processing, incorrect addresses, and other events outside our control may delay delivery.

When applicable law requires notice, cancellation options, or a refund because merchandise cannot ship on time, we will provide them.

Shipping Charges

Shipping-related charges may include:

  • Parcel or freight charges.
  • Crating and packaging.
  • Insurance.
  • Liftgate service.
  • Residential delivery.
  • Limited-access service.
  • Delivery appointments.
  • Inside delivery.
  • Terminal service.
  • Address correction.
  • Redelivery.
  • Storage.
  • Customs documentation.
  • Brokerage.
  • Duties and taxes.

The website checkout, quote, or order confirmation will identify the charges known when the order is approved.

Additional carrier charges caused by incorrect, incomplete, or changed information may remain the customer’s responsibility when permitted by law.

Delivery Addresses

Review the shipping address, contact name, telephone number, and access information before approving shipment.

Contact us immediately if an address must be corrected.

A carrier may not be able to redirect freight after pickup. Address changes may result in additional charges and delays.

Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop is not responsible for delivery problems caused by an incorrect or incomplete address supplied by the customer, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Freight Delivery Requirements

An authorized person must be available to receive and inspect freight when an appointment or signature is required.

Unless the confirmed service includes unloading, the recipient is responsible for providing safe equipment and qualified personnel to unload the shipment.

Do not attempt to unload freight using equipment that is not rated for the shipment’s weight.

Tracking

We will provide parcel tracking or freight information when available.

Tracking events, scans, and estimated delivery dates are controlled by the carrier.

If tracking does not update or a shipment appears delayed, contact us and the carrier. We will provide reasonable assistance with a trace or claim.

Inspecting a Delivery

Inspect every parcel and freight shipment before accepting it.

Look for:

  • Missing pieces.
  • Crushed corners.
  • Punctures.
  • Broken pallets or crates.
  • Broken or missing bands.
  • Shifted freight.
  • Torn wrapping.
  • Leaking fluids.
  • Damaged labels.
  • Evidence that the shipment was opened or rewrapped.

Visible Damage or Shortages

If a shipment has visible damage or missing pieces:

  1. Describe the damage or shortage on the carrier’s delivery receipt before signing.
  2. Do not write only “subject to inspection.”
  3. Take clear photographs of the shipment as delivered.
  4. Photograph the labels, packaging, pallet, crate, and damaged product.
  5. Keep all packaging, blocking, bands, pallets, and damaged parts.
  6. Contact Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop and the carrier promptly.
  7. Follow the claim-notice deadline shown in the carrier’s terms or shipping documents.

If the damage is severe or the shipment cannot be unloaded safely, contact us before refusing delivery when practical.

Signing for freight without noting visible damage may affect a carrier claim. It does not eliminate legal rights that cannot be waived.

Concealed Damage

Some damage may not be visible until the shipment is unpacked.

If concealed damage is discovered:

  • Stop unpacking when practical.
  • Photograph the product and packaging.
  • Keep all shipping materials.
  • Notify us and the carrier promptly.
  • Do not install, operate, repair, or discard the damaged product before receiving instructions.

Carrier deadlines for concealed-damage claims may be short.

Risk of Loss

Risk of loss and responsibility for shipping damage are determined by the applicable quote, order confirmation, bill of lading, carrier terms, and law.

Nothing in this policy limits a consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.

Shipping Insurance

We recommend insurance based on the replacement or agreed value of customer-owned and custom-built components.

Standard carrier liability may not cover the full value of the component and may exclude:

  • Inadequate packaging.
  • Delay.
  • Lost income.
  • Event expenses.
  • Loss of use.
  • Consequential damage.

If we arrange the shipment, we will reasonably cooperate with a covered claim. The person identified as the shipper or claimant may be required to submit the claim.

Canadian Shipments

Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop works with Canadian customers where carrier availability, product restrictions, and customs arrangements allow.

Before shipping between Canada and the United States, the parties should confirm:

  • Description of the goods.
  • Declared value.
  • Country of origin when known.
  • Purpose of the shipment.
  • Importer and exporter of record.
  • Customs broker.
  • Whether the shipment involves a sale, repair, warranty return, temporary export, or core exchange.
  • Required commercial documents.
  • Responsibility for duties, taxes, and brokerage.

Canadian Duties and Taxes

Canadian customs authorities determine whether goods may enter Canada and whether duty or taxes apply.

Unless the written quote states otherwise, the customer is responsible for applicable:

  • Customs duties.
  • GST.
  • HST.
  • PST.
  • Brokerage fees.
  • Disbursement fees.
  • Bond charges.
  • Storage charges.
  • Inspection fees.
  • Other import-related charges.

Payment to Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop does not necessarily include those amounts.

Customs processing may delay delivery.

Customs Documentation

For shipments we arrange, we will provide commercial documents reasonably available to us.

Customers must provide accurate information needed for customs processing.

Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop does not act as the customer’s customs broker and does not provide legal, customs, or tariff-classification advice.

Incorrect descriptions, values, classifications, or documentation may result in delay, reassessment, penalties, additional charges, or seizure.

Core Returns

Core-return requirements are stated in the quote or order confirmation.

Before returning a core, confirm:

  • Return authorization.
  • Return address.
  • Eligible model.
  • Required components.
  • Condition standards.
  • Return deadline.
  • Packaging requirements.
  • Shipping responsibility.
  • Core credit or charge.

Core credit is issued only after the core is received and inspected.

A damaged, incomplete, incorrect, contaminated, or modified core may receive a reduced credit or no credit.

Returns and Warranty Shipments

Contact Jimmy’s Custom Speed Shop before returning any product or suspected warranty item.

We will confirm:

  • Whether the return is authorized.
  • The correct return address.
  • Packaging requirements.
  • Required documents.
  • Shipping responsibility.
  • Carrier or service requirements.

Unauthorized returns may be refused or delayed.

A return authorization does not automatically confirm warranty coverage, replacement, credit, or refund.

Returning Customer-Owned Parts

If you want removed or replaced parts returned with the completed component, request that in writing before work begins.

Additional packaging, handling, and shipping charges may apply.

Hazardous, contaminated, restricted, unusable, exchanged, or core-related material may not be eligible for return.

Local Drop-Off and Pickup

Local drop-off and pickup require advance confirmation.

Bring the quote, order, or authorization number and use equipment capable of safely loading or unloading the component.

We may require identification or written authorization before releasing an order to someone other than the named customer.

Refused or Undeliverable Shipments

If a shipment is refused, unclaimed, returned because of an incorrect address, or held because delivery cannot be completed, the customer may be responsible for:

  • Return freight.
  • Redelivery charges.
  • Storage charges.
  • Brokerage fees.
  • Address-correction charges.
  • Related handling expenses.

We will attempt to contact the customer using the information provided with the order.

Changes to This Shipping Policy

We may update this Shipping Policy when our services, carriers, procedures, or legal obligations change.

The revised version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.

The shipping terms accepted for an existing order will continue to govern that order unless the parties agree otherwise or applicable law requires a change.
